Project A.D.DV.O.C.A+E

Bloomington, Minnesota

Project A.D.DV.O.C.A+E (Access for Deaf persons experiencing Domestic Violence through Outreach, Collaboration, Allies, and Education) is a collaborative effort of Day One Services of Cornerstone (DayOne®) and Communication Service for the Deaf (CSD).  DayOne®, is an agency that serves victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in ten target cities within Minnesota. CSD is a Deaf human services agency that provides a variety of service programs, including programming for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors.  A.D.DV.O.C.A+E came together with the goal of creating sustainable change by developing a network of service providers that are accessible to communities that are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

Our Unique Contribution

DayOne® and CSD are working together to provide domestic violence advocacy services for Deaf survivors.  They are developing a co-advocacy model which includes a co-location of services and pairing a Deaf advocate with a domestic violence advocate to better serve Deaf survivors of domestic violence.
