Abused Deaf Women’s Advocacy Services (ADWAS) provides comprehensive services for Deaf and DeafBlind survivors of domestic and sexual violence that include advocacy, therapy, parenting and children’s programs. In addition, we provide outreach and education to the community with a focus on prevention of violence. We staff the 24/7 local domestic violence hotline as well as partner with the National Domestic Hotline for Deaf callers during business hours.
Our Unique Contribution
ADWAS is the first in the nation to open a Supportive Housing program that was specifically designed to cater to the Deaf and DeafBlind community. All apartments are furnished with Videophones, light systems and other features that make it automatically accessible to the community we serve.
