The Antelope Valley Collaboration is a partnership between the Antelope Valley Domestic Violence Council (Valley Oasis) and Mental Health America Los Angeles-Antelope Valley Enrichment Services. Valley Oasis is a community-based organization committed to eliminating social violence, domestic violence, and homelessness through community awareness, intervention, prevention and supportive services. Mental Health America of Los Angeles – Antelope Valley Enrichment Services has worked for nearly three decades to ensure that all people living with mental illness “assume their full and rightful place in the community”. The two organizations began working together out of a desire to create more welcoming and compassionate services for people living with mental illness who have been a victim of sexual assault or domestic violence.
Our Unique Contribution
The Antelope Valley Collaboration work has focused on community outreach to those living with mental illness. Focusing on the needs of the local community of Lancaster County, they have addressed barriers faced by communities isolated from metropolitan areas. This includes addressing barriers created by limited public transportation, wide-spread poverty, and limited community resources.
