Project BASE (Barrier and Stigma Elimination) is the result of collaborative work between The Retreat, Inc., the Mental Health Association in Suffolk County, and the Crime Victims Center, a program of Parents for Megan’s Law. These organizations each independently serve Suffolk County, New York and together are addressing the specific needs in that community to better serve individuals living with mental illness who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
Our Unique Contribution
Project BASE is identifying gaps in services at each of the organizations in the collaboration. By addressing practices, beliefs, and policies that inhibit individuals living with mental illness from accessing domestic violence and sexual assault services, they are improving the experience of survivors who seek services.
