The First State Equal Access to Safety Collaborative is a statewide partnership seeking to improve access to domestic violence services for victims of intimate partner violence who have a disability and/or mental illness in Delaware. This partnership includes the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence and National Alliance on Mental Illness Delaware.
Our Unique Contributions
First State Equal Access to Safety worked through a thoughtfully crafted process to expand their own understanding and expertise around the intersection of domestic violence, disability and mental illness. As the statewide technical assistance providers, the collaborative partners offer accessibility and safety assessments, policy and procedure reviews and trainings on trauma-informed approaches to service delivery. Developing technical assistance toolkits for disability and domestic violence agencies across the state in order to afford survivors of intimate partner violence who have a disability and/or mental illness services comparable to those provided to survivors without disabilities.
