Task Force on Violence and Abuse of People with Disabilities

Washington, District of Columbia

The Task Force on Violence and Abuse of People with Disabilities is a subcommittee of the National Council on Independent Living (NCIL). This task force seeks to bring awareness about violence and abuse among people with disabilities to NCIL, its centers, and membership.  The NCIL Task Force on Violence and Abuse of People with Disabilities was formed in August 2006, under the NCIL Civil Rights Committee, as a result of the 2006 NCIL Resolution on Violence and Abuse of People with Disabilities.

Our Unique Contribution

The Task Force on Violence and Abuse of People with Disabilities actively educates and trains the NCIL membership on violence and abuse.  These trainings prepare their members to advocate for justice and equal access to victim services, and to ensure that the voices of persons with disabilities are included in legislative activities that address crimes, victimization, and abuse.
