Partnering to Increase Service Access

Austin, Texas

Partnering to Increase Service Access is a collaboration between SafePlace and Disability Rights Texas. SafePlace is an Austin-based nonprofit agency with a 30-year history of providing comprehensive prevention, intervention, education, and advocacy services to women, children and men victimized by rape, sexual abuse and domestic violence. Disability Rights Texas is a private, nonprofit organization, and is the federally designated legal protection and advocacy agency for people with disabilities in Texas.  These two organizations are working together with the goal of providing services, focused on safety and choice, to people with disabilities and Deaf people.

Our Unique Contributions

Partnering to Increase Service Access has developed a number of publications, more recently focusing on people who live in residential settings or settings outside the home.  The collaboration created “A Guide for Safety Planning with Individuals with Developmental Disabilities in Staffed Service Settings” as a tool to create safety plans for an environment that has frequently been overlooked in traditional safety planning tools.
