Peace of Mind Florida

Tallahassee, Florida

Peace of Mind Florida is a collaboration between the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence (FCADV) and the Brain Injury Association of Florida (BIAF).  FCADV is the statewide professional association for Florida’s 42 domestic violence centers, and operates Florida’s toll-free domestic violence hotline.  BIAF assists individuals with brain injuries, their families, and allied professionals throughout the state of Florida, to improve the quality of life for persons with brain injuries and their families.  The goal of their work together is to address how each organization will build internal capacity to provide training and technical assistance to its membership and staff in Florida.

Our Unique Contribution

Peace of Mind Florida has developed a number of tools at the intersection of domestic violence and traumatic brain injury.  Their Safety Planning Tool guides Brain Injury Association staff through the intake process, includes training requirements, background information and a structured process to screen and respond to disclosures of domestic violence.  In addition, they have created a workplace violence policy that addresses the unique circumstances of staff who work from home-based or remote offices.
