Wisconsin’s Violence Against Women with Disabilities and Deaf Women Project’s mission and activities are founded on collaboration among three statewide organizations: Disability Rights Wisconsin (DRW), End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin (formerly Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence) and Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault (WCASA). With increasing recognition of the prevalence of interpersonal violence committed against people with disabilities, this collaboration acknowledges that no organization alone can address the complexities and challenges of sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking committed against individuals with disabilities.
Our Unique Contribution
The Wisconsin’s Violence Against Women with Disabilities and Deaf Women Project has created a number of publications, including “Conversations about Interpersonal Safety: Helping individuals create more safety for themselves and talk about events that concern them,” which is designed for advocates, friends, family members and others to guide conversation and invite thinking about social situations and issues of personal safety involving people who have difficulty with abstract language, learning and social interactions. This publication and others can be accessed on Disability Rights Wisconsin’s website.
