A Call to Action for Criminal Justice Professionals

Violence, abuse, and bullying are frequent realities for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD). This paper issued by the Arc’s National Center on Criminal Justice and Disability is a call to criminal justice professionals to proactively identify, engage and support crime victims with disabilities. These professionals,¬†due to the nature of their jobs, possess exceptional opportunities to ensure that the rights of victims with disabilities are protected and that perpetrators are held accountable for crimes committed.
