Moderating your Webinar

Many webinar platforms offer a variety of ways to engage with participants, such as through VOIP (Voice Over the Web), a chat box, polling, and hand raising. If using a chat box, the moderator should periodically stop and summarize or read out all relevant text, as most screen readers do not automatically announce or read when new text is entered into a chat window. It’s also important that the webinar platform allow participants the option of connecting to the audio via telephone. Determine in advance how to engage everyone when asking questions, whether via the chat box, polling, or hand raising.
