Educando para la Paz
The “Educating for Peace” project is aimed at impacting women victims of crime living under the poverty line through a pedagogically sound program constructed for the participants to have access to justice. In addition, through this innovation grant, the project provided emotional support to crime victims that may require it, and in turn, provide art therapy workshops (Self-portrait: out loud) in order to heal the experiences of violence and marginalization suffered by the participants.
As a crucial element in the spreading and propagation of information and support services to communities, Casa Juana recognizes the importance of community leaders. These women are the bridge to the services that Casa Juana offers in the various areas and sectors of the Comerío population, as well as the bridge to maximizing access by potential crime victims. Within this context, and through this project, Casa Juana trained community leaders to function as advocates in order to make justice and information more accessible to victims whose social reality complicates this process, often making it impossible.
