Safely and Effectively Supporting Neurodivergent Survivors

Survivors of sexual assault with disabilities face many challenges in receiving accessible services. This is especially true for neurodivergent survivors. For many service providers, diagnoses like ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, OCD, etc., are labeled too complicated to understand, resulting in missed opportunities to connect, gaps in services, and insufficient communication. In this webinar, we explore the intersection of neurodiversity and sexual violence, provide strategies for how to support neurodivergent survivors, and discuss ways your organization can be better prepared to serve this community.

After this presentation, you will be able to:

  • Define disability and neurodiversity, and describe common risk factors for sexual violence;
  • Explain how neurodiversity impacts the survivor experience;
    Discuss accommodations and accessibility in survivor and service provider spaces;
  • Explore solutions for neurodiverse survivors that promote healing, safety, and continued trauma-informed supports
